Many of the immigrants that appear in the Heuser database settled from 1850 on in the German colonies that were located in the area covered by the cities of Santa Cruz do Sul and Venâncio Aires, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, South of Brazil.

At this page I have collected some old maps of these colonies.

For the colonies in Santa Cruz do Sul, there are three maps:

• "Planta da Colônia de Santa Cruz com as Datas de Terras confinantes, levantada por João Martinho Buff, Director da dita Colonia, Reduzida por Henrique Meyer" (About 1859).
• "Mapa da Colônia de Rio Pardinho" (About 1870).
• "Planta da Colônia de Santa Cruz - Agrimensor Carlos Trein Filho" (25 Jul 1881).
• "Mapa do Município de Santa Cruz (1922), organizado por Ordem do Intendente Municipal Gaspar Bartholomay em comemoração ao 1º Centenário da Independência do Brasil, concluído pelo Engenheiro Oscar Jahnke".
