- Full name: Carl Oscar, originally Jansson. As an adult, Oscar adopted his father's Andersson as a family name, and in doing so dropped the second 's', as was the custom in his region at the time. He married his first cousin Hilda Larsson and the family lived at the old Farneby farm estate in the village of Vrena, municipal Nyköping, province of Sudermania (Södermanland) south of Stockholm. Farneby had been in the family since 1839. Besides being a farmer and estate owner, Oscar was a churchwarden and also had a successful military career, proudly holding the Order of the Sword (Svärdsorden). He and Hilda had seven children from 1884 to 1896. The eldest and youngest, daughters, were albinos and died of diphtheria on the same day in 1899. The Andersons' only son became a vicar in the Swedish Lutheran Church in nearby Runtuna, one daughter emigrated to Brazil and three stayed home at Farneby. Oscar outlived all his brothers and sisters by many years and died at Farneby at 77 in 1932. Vrena Churchyard is the site of many of the graves in his family. [2]
